Saturday... Dr. Charles Mulli - One man who has made such a difference in the lives of so many. Driven and determined to affect change, he has an unwavering faith and trust in God. It's so cool to hear all the children call him "Daddy" and his wife Esther, "Mommy"... Dr. Charles and Esther Mulli provide not only the basic needs (food/shelter/clothing) but also the critical need of unconditional parental love and guidance. Most of the children have lost or been separated from their parents; others have been abandoned and/or abused. They are willing to share and tell their stories, knowing that MCF provides them a safe place to heal, grow and mature. One girl shared her story of how she lived on the streets until two years ago, when she was brought to MCF. Since then, she has learned to sing and dance - graduating from Grade 4 to Grade 9 already...she is 17 and plans to be a surgeon. Every child we asked told us EXACTLY what they wanted to do when they grow up - from doctor, nurse, accountant, civil engineer... MCF provides them with the education and support to reach these goals. It is unbelievable to me that only one church in the US supports this non-profit organization that will continue to grow and make such an impact on so many lives. They said they have 52 beneficiaries that are attending college or university, pursuing their dreams...there are others who have graduated Grade 12 and helping as assistant teachers as they do not have funding/donations to continue their education. I was told it is approximately $5000 per child... If every employee at Cross donated or fundraised $10 each, we could support 2 children a year to go to college or university...WOW!!
--To date, MCF has planted more than 600,000 seedlings towards helping the environment and as an income generating project; they now plant, donate and sell over 1 million seedlings a year
--They eat meat only on special occasions as they need to slaughter 2 cows and 5 goats or sheep in order to serve one meal to all those at MCF and Ndanali
--One of the graduates of MCF, Paul, started there in Grade 4. He trained with a karate instructor at MCF and now is the teacher of that class that are rated Champions in Kenya. He has just qualified for the Olympic team! What an amazing story. We are all hoping to see a karate demonstration this week!
Paul was asked "What is it aobut Dr Mulli that stands out to you?" His answer was that Dr Mulli has such a deep love and desire to help children that he will never say no or turn one away that needs help. He's always there with open arms and open heart to give love and support. Dr Mulli and his family still do not have a good well-built family home as they stopped construction on the main house until ALL the children have permanent living quarters. They have just recently restarted working on their home.
I pray that God will bless them richly for how much they have given and continue to give and sacrifice for others.
